Created by Dutch designer Jolan van der Wiel, they look like just the thing to spruce up your cave when you’re expecting company, or the best birthday present ever for the mineralogist in your life.

We’ve all had a string of bad luck – but Kacee Larson’s is quite unusual. The Iowa teen has earned the nickname "Deer Magnet" after hitting 5 deer in the past year:
Seventeen-year-old Kacee Larson of Conrad said her string of bad luck began last July when she was driving home from her job at an ice cream shop. She saw the deer an instant before hitting it.
Larson’s second collision happened a few months later, while she was driving to church on a Sunday morning.
The streak continued. After Larson hit her fourth deer, her pastor’s wife advised her to start praying before she got into a vehicle.

San Francisco-based artist/coder Robert Hodgin of Flight 404 Blog created some of the most mesmerizing sculptures using magnetized balls and cylinders. They’re part of the Gray Area Foundation for the Arts (GAFFTA) exhibition.
That has got to take some mad skillz because I can easily envision the whole thing collapsing into a pile of magnetized blob at the slightest touch.

Fiat Lux is a lamp with a switch that hovers underneath -no strings attached! The ball-shaped switch is magnetic, and rests on the lamp when not in use. When you approach the lamp, it turns itself on. Then you “hang” the switch underneath, where it levitates by magnetic force. Move the switch to turn the lamp off. The next time you ride a train, spill some paperclips on the floor and see if they do the "magnetic dance". According to Pink Tentacle:
The video — shot on the Rokko Liner in Kobe, Japan — shows how paperclips stand on end when the train accelerates and brakes. The magnetism, which is produced by the electric current that drives the motors located under the floor, apparently poses no harm to the human body, though it could damage credit cards, mobile phones, or other electronic devices if left on the floor.

Peter Locke created a set of colored magnets called Motifo that act as giant pixels to turn your fridge into a works of art:
Each mosaic design has been specially crafted to use the same combination of pieces, so every mosaic can be made with the 1296 pieces included in each motifo pack. If you want to create a new design, just rearrange the pieces.
If I’m not afraid that they’d swallow the small pieces outright, this would be a blast for my kids! Link – via Funfurde
