Kevin Mitnick, a computer security consultant and convicted hacker, worries that he might be kidnapped while traveling through more dangerous parts of Latin America. So he casually wears a bracelet of woven paracord. Hidden in the clasp is a key designed to open most handcuff designs.

Kid Handcuffed and Perp Walked for Doodling on Desk

Posted by Alex in Baby & Kids, Crime & Law on February 5, 2010 at 6:41 pm

Having solved all serious crimes, New York City Department of Education focused its might to quash the scourge of doodling in today’s school.

Here’s what doodling on a school desk with erasable marker will get you: a perp walk in cuffs!

Alexa Gonzalez was scribbling a few words on her desk Monday while waiting for her Spanish teacher to pass out homework at Junior High School 190 in Forest Hills, she said.

"I love my friends Abby and Faith," the girl wrote, adding the phrases "Lex was here. 2/1/10" and a smiley face.

But instead of simply cleaning off the doodles after class, Alexa landed in some adult-sized trouble for using her lime-green magic marker.

She was led out of school in cuffs and walked to the precinct across the street, where she was detained for several hours, she and her mother said.

Another hardened criminal off the street! Good job, New York. Good job. Link

Police Tasered and Handcuffed … an Emu!

Posted by Alex in Animals & Pets on September 23, 2009 at 2:01 am

Forget tranquilizer darts – that’s the stuff of Hollywood. Real police officers use taser, even on a wayward emu:

Authorities in Mississippi said they had to handcuff an emu and shock it with a Taser to remove the ostrich-like flightless bird from a roadway.

Oh, and they used handcuffs, too. I’m assuming they meant emu legcuffs: Link (Sadly, no photo of the cuffed emu)

Prisoners’ Great Escape Stopped by a Light Pole

Two New Zealand prisoners who were handcuffed together as they fled a courthouse foiled their own getaway when they ran to opposite sides of a light pole, slammed into each other and fell to the ground. Jailers nabbed them as they struggled to their feet. Their escape on Wednesday was captured by a CCTV camera at Hastings District Court on New Zealand's North Island. The footage shows the two men trying to make a break for it - but apparently forgetting they were joined at the wrist.
