Sure it looks like a nicely decorated home, or at least pen drawings scribbled over a picture over a blank room, but the strings from the ceiling reveal a much more interesting story -the furniture and paintings are all actually made out of colored thread.

Illustrator Caldwell Tanner has created some colorful travel posters for locations familiar to lazy people. So, now you can feel like you do all kinds of traveling every day, even though you rarely leave your house!
Who needs fresh air and sunshine when you’ve got the arctic chill of the refrigerator and the rainbow waterfall of infinite pages that is the glorious interwebs?

Just look at these tiny little planters. Little plants don’t only serve as great bike accessories, but they can also spruce up your wardrobe when put in small planter earrings. Would you ladies want to wear a living plant?
Notice anything strange about the artwork above? How about the fact that it’s made out of staples? The creation is made by Paris-based artist Baptiste Debombourg. His most recent mural is made up of 450,000 staples.

This Half-Life Barnacle by German artist Daniel Ritthanondh is incredibly detailed and realistic, but it’s too damn creepy to actually use in any respectable home. Would any of you actually put this up?
This whimsical illustrated chart by Aaron Thong shows some alternate uses for portals, like the ones created by the handheld portal device carried by the main characters in the Portal video game series.
You’d better ask for permission from GLaDOS before attempting these unauthorized uses of your portal gun, or you may be taken offline. Skydiving seems like a fun way to use a portal, but hula hooping looks downright dangerous!

If you ever wondered why it is so important to be exact in math, particularly in engineering math, then take a look at cases in which a math error resulted in deaths. Remember the Hyatt Regency disaster in Kansas City some 30 years ago?
When designing their newest hotel to be built in downtown Kansas City, the fine people at Hyatt Regency wanted all the bells and whistles in it. The architectural firm in charge of the building design came up with a series of aerial walkways suspended from the ceiling so that guests could people-watch from a heightened vantage point. All in all, it was a pretty nifty feature. Until it suddenly collapsed and killed more than a hundred people.

Dropping a cement filled mannequin on a perforated metal trapezoid is a really strange way of creating a chair, and it looks as you would expect it would-crumpled and uncomfortable. But hey, you can’t blame designer Ezri Tarazi for trying to come up with something new in the world of furniture design. If only he could find a more practical use for a cement-filled mannequin, say as a wrecking ball or to weigh down a snitch when he drops them in the ocean.

If you don’t raise chickens, you probably never thought about chicken coop design. It’s a rather specialized branch of architecture. But more and more people are raising chickens in their backyard, and designers are ready with modern prefab coops you can buy and set up in no time at all. Web Ecoist has a rundown of chicken coops, including two that are shaped like eggs! A few notable homemade designs are included as well. The model shown moves along the yard slowly by solar power. What image do you relate to each letter of the alphabet? Various artists were asked the very same question, so they illustrated each letter, and drew up a small scene relating to each letter, like this Beatle themed letter B by Michael Gillette.
