What lies at the intersection of sci-fi geekdom and royal wedding fever? The royal wedding dalek! Chris Balcombe is an avid Doctor Who fan with his own dalek, which got a makeover for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Chris Balcombe, 51, has spent one week decorating his Dalek to tie in with the occasion. The Doctor’s nemesis has been painted red, blue and white and is covered with Union Jack flags and photos of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Furthermore, Chris attached a mechanical grip to the Dalek so it can hold trays of food and drinks.

What’s that you say? You want a Doctor who’s young, playful, charming, yet fierce and unyielding in battle? I do believe we’ve found our twelfth Doctor – and he’s a boxer. Update 5/8/09 – that was too easy! Here’s the answer: A TaylorMade golf club display stand, these can be found near the indoor practice area in a golf shop. It would not have held a full set, but a selection of different models of the same number club, I saw a display like this in a local shop and it was full of six irons. The clubs were available for customers to hit a few balls with each to compare the performance of the various models.

The 42-year-old said: "I’d just shifted a tree branch with my foot when I noticed something dark and round slowly coming up to the surface. I got the shock of my life when a Dalek head bobbed up right in front of me.

"It must have been down there for some time because it was covered in mould and water weed, and had quite a bit of damage. One of the dome lights was smashed, but the eye-stalk was intact and the head and neck stayed in one piece as I carefully lifted it out."
