By now you’ve discovered that the man in the picture is not Steve Jobs, but rather a mutton chopped Asian man impersonating the tech superstar.
However, that thing standing next to him has to be a cyborg, a real life cybernetic organism, although I’m pretty sure it must be quite underpowered since it’s been constructed out of Mac parts.
In true Macborg fashion it won’t be compatible with 80% of the world, it will be impossible to fix once broken, and don’t even think about upgrading- if you want more memory you’re just going to have to break down and buy a new one every four or five years.
But it sure is shiny, and clean looking, with lots of white and silver bits and a fruit shaped logo, that counts for something, right?

The iconic weapon wielded by the main character(s) in the Portal video game franchise is about to become a reality thanks to the team at Neca, makers of fine replicas and awesome action figures.
This 1/1 replica looks so good that your fellow cosplayers will be sooooo jealous when they see you sporting this bad boy! And the quite affordable $208 price tag makes it perfectly accessible to all who want to strap this sucker on during playtime.
You can see lots more pretty pictures of this cool life-size replica at the link below. I predict a flood of Portal cosplayers will be in attendance at Comic-Con this year, and every one of them will have one of these strapped to their arm. The world could use a few more Portal costumes, and about a thousand less anime cosplayers!

You might think video game designers are constantly trying to design characters that are hard to duplicate in real life. And every time, creative cosplayers find a way to do it. Take a look at the Shiva Sisters, Styria and Nix, from the game Final Fantasy XIII. See more pictures and some details of how they did it at Unreality magazine. Link

Zeon posted a full-size Berserk sword earlier today, and then mentioned he wanted to see a full-size Final Fantasy VII Buster Sword. Mike Schropp at Total Geekdom made exactly that, Zeon! He also posted the illustrated process of making it. AND Schropp has a picture of himself and the completed sword in costume (for Halloween) with special Final Fantasy effects. If I posted that picture here, you wouldn’t think it was really him. So I selected this picture instead. You can go see the rest. Link

The level of detail, from the overall shape and balance to the fine detail work and superb paint job, makes this one of the sweetest Samus costumes I’ve ever come across on the interwebs.
I like that she decided to go with the original Power Suit, while letting her feminine side show more than it ever did in the original Metroid NES game, and gamer girls, especially those who enjoy playing retro games, always get my vote!
This hand crafted sword looks waaaaay too big to be lugging around all day during a convention cosplay session. Inspired by the sword carried by the main character Guts in the anime/manga series Berserk (as seen in the poster above the sword), it’s a super sized prop that looks really hard to handle. I applaud your effort sir, now get to work on that Final Fantasy VII Buster Sword stat!
The craftsman known as Evil FX has a very ambitious, and geeky, goal when he hits his workshop-to create a full suit costume of Daedric style armor from the Elder Scrolls video game series. Here’s how he made it:
..he is starting out with a pretty cool Daedric sword as a “test build.” The one-handed sword was constructed out of heavily dremeled EVA sheet foam which is apparently perfect “for carrying around all day at conventions and passing all con/customs weapon policies.”
Pretty slick for sheet foam, eh?! If you’re interested there’s a video showing the process at the link, otherwise thanks for stopping by!

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering “What’s the deal with cosplayers?” (hopefully in an internal voice that sounds like Jerry Seinfeld), then you should find this video informative and enlightening.
And, while the girl featured in the video can only speak out of personal experience, the sentiments expressed seem to be echoed by her fellow cosplayers, at least according to their comments and posts across the Interwebs.
So, did this video give you a better understanding of cosplay culture, or simply make you dislike the whole thing even more?

Thus it always was: Finn was born to adventure and Jake to help him. Here are Fashionably Geek reader Chris and his son in their simple but effective costumes. Finn doesn’t stay this size. No, he gets much bigger.
Back in the good old days of convention cosplay, before the overuse of silicone and foam latex made for fierce competition and bare skin became an acceptable substitute for creativity, people had simpler tastes in costuming, and anime had yet to become the darling of the convention floors.
Now, that’s not to say that these costumes aren’t cool (for the most part, anyway) and well made, but the incredible production quality of modern costumes would date the cosplayers in this gallery, even if the quality of the photographs hadn’t already made it obvious that they’re from long ago.
The photos in this gallery come to you courtesy of the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society from the Westercon convention of 1980, and they are full of warmth and charm, cosplay enthusiasts who aren’t used to posing for hundreds of pictures, and only one scantily clad supergal. *gasp*
These custom made heel springs, like the ones worn by the protagonist Chell in the Portal video game franchise, don’t seem like a very useful creation in real life, but who needs function when the form is so cool, and they’re an integral part of a wicked Chell costume? Scifi femme fatale prisoner cosplay FTW!
If only they actually allowed you to survive a long fall, like they do in the game, the creator Harrison Krix would become a very rich man indeed!

Apparently nothing is sacred when it comes to Furry culture, because now they’ve set their sights on Star Wars with this creepy Tauntaun costume.
In other circumstances, this would be a cute mascot costume, but the thought of Furrys getting busy in this bad boy makes me want to ditch my lightsaber for good!
When cosplayer Joshua Smith decided to make a costume for BlizzCon, first he went to Wal-Mart then he went all out, building this massive, amazingly detailed Diablo costume in honor of the release of Diablo III.
There are lots of photos of this amazing costume at the link below, including shots of the suit lit up with a demonic glow. If I owned this costume, I would scare the crap out of my entire neighborhood on Halloween!

Who would have guessed that Finn, from the Cartoon Network series Adventure Time, would grow up to be such a badass? Since his arms and legs are like noodles on the show, I’m thinking he went through a gym rat phase as he grew up. Now he looks like he can kick some serious tail!
Cute Overload reader Claire H. sent in this great picture of her little kitty playing dress up. Before you get too excited about how awesome it is to finally see some female feline empowerment, let me be the first to tell you this kitty’s name is Harold.
deivantART user SoDespair created a cosplay photo set that mimics the animated TV show Daria perfectly. Daria Morgendorffer, Jane Lane and her brother Trent Lane are caught in their original settings. Trent even has the correct tattoos.

Sarah Hoke Thomson’s brilliant Halloween costume brought a Roy Lichtenstein painting to life. The more ambitious among you should try this with Jackson Pollock paintings.

I try to refrain from posting every cosplay gallery link I come across for obvious reasons, but I thought i’d share this one because it features obscure characters and some seriously well-made costumes.
Among the characters present: a couple of creatures from They Live, Priss Asagiri from Bubblegum Crisis anime, a scary Little Sister from Bioshock, and a strangely fitting female Rule 63 Aquaman. Which costumes did you like?
Lumpy Space Princess is, like, this character on the TV show Adventure Time or whatever. Kimmy Bruehl had the right idea by dressing up her daughter Suzanne as the little bundle of soft, floating, sarcastic lumpiness.

Leeloo’s costume for this year makes me think that the original Star Wars trilogy could make a great ballet. We must see Jabba dance with the outer grace that he hides within.

What would you think if you saw this thing walking down the street, eight feet tall and full of sinister snarl? Personally, i’d steer clear unless I had a squad of Spartans by my side, you know, like the ones found in the HALO video game franchise? (Thanks for the nerd edit Bearfoot!)
Hit the link and see the process from mere mortal to becoming this amazing alien creature.
Zombie Iron Man showed up at the Paris Zombie Walk 2011 looking like a billion bucks. I’m surprised he wasn’t at Occupy Wall Street supporting the 1% by eating protestor’s brains! Wouldn’t it be hilarious if this caught on as a Halloween costume?
This costume will have people rubbing their eyes to make sure they didn’t imagine seeing the full scale sprite of Samus from the Nintendo game Metroid walking by.
Dan Cattell created these Metroid inspired sprite costumes, and Nintendo liked them so much they featured them in Nintendo Power magazine. Hit the link and see how cool Samus and a Chozo Statue look when they’re about to battle it out!

Here we see Wolverine decked out in his rare Banana variant costume taking a well deserved break after a day of slipping on himself, re-hydrating so he doesn’t ripen and turn brown. If you see Wolverine in this outfit try to get a pic but be careful- he’s bashful when he sports his Banana Style!
There was a huge turnout of cosplayers at new York’s Comic-Con, and photographer Michael Tapp was there to document them. See a gallery of 43 photographs of the best costumes to be seen at the convention at Geeks Are Sexy. Link
I wonder if Jabba will even consider taking her back at this point. At least lose the chest hair

Photographer Senen Llanos took portraits of cosplayers attending New York’s Comic-Con this weekend. He highlighted the subject by separating the character from the “busy background” that you’re familiar with in convention photos. See 39 cosplay portraits at his site. Link
Here’s a great find at the New York City Comic Con by Caleb Goellner of Comics Alliance. It’s a cyclotron of cuteness.
And someone take that beer away from Sleeping Beauty. She’s underage.
Ethan Trewhitt found these Disney Princesses at Dragon*Con. Pocahontas is actually fairly convincing.

On the TV show Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Carl Brutananadilewski is the main characters’ next-door neighbor. redditor magasjaru made this nearly-perfect costume of him for Halloween last year. A true fan, he even shaved his head. And, I see, added fake body hair. That was a nice touch.
