We've seen a few high-speed photography of water drops before on Neatorama, but this one by German photographer Heinz Maier has got us stumped: how in the world did he get a bubble inside of a bubble, with end caps no less?

This fishbowl was designed by glassblower Richard Bell. It makes me nervous. Does it make you nervous? I wonder if the fish is nervous.

Wouldn’t it be great to sit on a chair of bubbles while you ponder whether we’re in yet another Internet bubble? French designer Marie Galoyer has come up with a way to do just that. At a mere €4,000, the Sitting Bulles is practically a steal:

This seat is made by connecting inflatable “bubbles” (like beach balls, but sturdier) to a central unit and setting them at the angle that works for you. The whole design has a lot going for it: it is airy and cool and fun. It turns a piece of furniture into a true feature for an outdoor space. From a practical standpoint, assembly is easy and quick. The balloons are inflated with a regular pump and the process is sorted in under five minutes. A storage and transport case is included.

The first clones should be available in the next 6-months.  It’s very possible that he may get more than one clone of Wolfie the dog. If does he plans to name them all Wolfie.

Peter also hopes that one day he can clone himself.

“If I had an opportunity to clone myself, I’d do it right now,” Onruang says. “Because it’s me… I’m raising myself. I already know exactly my strengths and weaknesses. This person is gonna be the new and improved me, and would live the life I’ve always wanted to live.”

The ‘whale’ is actually a project from Vincent Callebaut Architects called Physalia Physalis or ‘Water Bubble’, and it has a very serious point. One billion people don’t have access to clean drinking water. This vessel is designed to float up and down the rivers of Europe, purifying the water as it goes. It is of course a huge floating garden among other things, with interior gardens dedicated to Earth, Water, Wind and Fire. So in theory it would make the Thames drinkable. It is also apparently completely self-sufficient, being covered in solar panels. In fact, it is meant to produce more energy than it uses. Too bad it is only a concept for now.

Think you can blow a pretty good-sized soap bubble? Chances are, it’s nothing like the creations of ‘Bubbleologist’ Samsam Bubbleman:

Samsam (real name Sam Heath) was aiming to pop the Guinness World Record set in 2005 in Minnesota, U.S., for a bubble of 105.4 cubic feet. He is not sure of the precise volume of his attempt in Finsbury Park, North London, but it stretched to 20ft by 5ft by 5ft at its biggest.

He is now waiting for official confirmation. ‘I’m confident it has obliterated the former record,’ he said.

Samsam, pictured with his creation, refused to reveal the recipe for his bubble mixture, saying it is the secret to his success.

‘With the right stuff you can make big bubbles with anything – a coat-hanger or even just your hands,’ he said. He developed the top-secret mixture over 20 years of trial and error.

The professional bubble-maker has been described as ‘the Willy Wonka of Bubbles’ by DJ Chris Evans.

We’ve featured a lot of really neat photos on Neatorama, but I think this one is definitely in the top 10. Here’s a photo by Richard Heeks of a soap bubble bursting:

The lighting of this shot is natural – sunlight through cloud. The Nikon D90 is great for giving clear images at high ISO (here ISO 800); making this shot possible.

N.B. This is a real photo of a soap bubble bursting. I’ve made slight edits to raise colour and light, but this is just to add some punch. This is not a Photoshop creation!
