If you think crime is bad in your neighborhood these days, ask yourself this: are people stealing bricks from houses on your street? If the answer is no, then your hood’s got nothing on St. Louis, Missouri, where things have gotten so bad people are literally stripping houses to the ground for a few extra bucks. It looks like the surface of a road has suddenly turned aqueous! This is actually an art installation by Benjamin Boré in Bourges, France. Although there’s not much information, an introductory video shows several people ripping up a section of brick road and putting a water mattress under the surface. That’s why it’s so bouncy.

This video allegedly shows a machine that can lay 400 yards of brick road a day. But I can’t find any information about it beyond Internet buzz. What do you think — is it real?
