The Facebook Bed

Got someone who lives and breathes Facebook? Well, now you can help 'em sleep on Facebook, too!

Behold the Facebook bed by Tomislav Zvonaric of DevianTom. It's only a concept, but I know you're all liking it, am I right or am I right?

Bed Desk Combo

Posted by Alex in Home & Garden on April 9, 2011 at 11:36 am

When Naoto Mitsumoto and Naoko Hamana of the architectural studio MihaDesign were asked to renovate an old apartment to give the owners more room for their kids in a very limited space, the duo came up with an ingenious solution: bed desk combo.

The result is surprisingly nifty. Spoon-Tamago has the pictures: Link – via BB-Blog

Office Bed Chair

Posted by Alex in Design, Home & Garden, Pictures on December 22, 2010 at 11:57 am

Our pal Sean Fallon of Nerd Approved must be off his rockers. He wrote an article about the Worst Christmas Gifts for MSN, in which he inexplicably included this AWESOME office bed chair (looks like something Steve Johnson of the Museum of Possibilities would’ve dreamed up) as well as the handy Handerpants as bad gift ideas.

We, obviously, disagree, but you can read the entire list for yourself: Link

TARDIS Murphy Bed

Posted by Miss Cellania in Home & Garden, Science Fiction on December 1, 2010 at 12:16 pm

A man in New Zealand built a very special bed for his son. By day, it’s a life-size TARDIS (the time machine from Doctor Who) disguised as a police box. By night, it’s a fold-down bed! It has a working police light, pulsing LEDs, and a talking telephone. It’s up for sale to the highest bidder. Link -via The Daily What

Millenium Falcon Bed

Falcon Bed

Kayla Kromer was featured on Neatorama about a year ago for her Hamburger Bed.  Now she strikes back with this must have bed for any Star Wars fan.  Featuring working headlights, starfield projection, and hidden compartments, its cockpit can also hold action figures (although the two she picked are, indeed, sacrilege).  I like the radar dish pillow.

Sleep Peacefully in the Jaws of a Dinosaur

Posted by John Farrier in Architecture, Baby & Kids on December 10, 2009 at 6:22 pm

The Murphy Family home in Jupiter, Florida features a child’s bed shaped like a dinosaur mouth. Bonnie Murphy, a muralist, did the painting and her husband did the carpentry. Can you imagine anything more soothing?

Newest Travel Craze – Sleeping In Beds Of Hay

Posted by Queuebot in Travel on September 17, 2009 at 7:57 pm

The travel industry may be suffering during these tough economic times, but hotels in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland have found a way to attract new visitors – let them sleep in beds of freshly raked hay in converted barns. For as little as 8 Euros per night ($11 U.S.),  backpackers, couples, families, and (in the case of one German hotel) groups of up to 60 can bond by eating together around a camp fire and then
rolling around in the hay.

Without the need for new construction, heavy laundry bills or other forms of high energy consumption, hay hotels are also an effective means of low-impact, sustainable tourism.

Luxury Resort Offers $19 Room. The Catch? There’s No Bed!

Posted by Queuebot in Travel on August 13, 2009 at 4:34 pm

The Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego is trying a new tactic for drawing guests in a struggling economy: the "Survivor Package." For $19 a night, guests get a tent to sleep in (no mattress, linens, lights, or air conditioning, and forget the free breakfast).

Managers of the luxury resort hope people will return after the promotion willing to pay full price for all the amenities.

Star Wars Y-Wing Bed

Posted by John Farrier in Art, Film on August 11, 2009 at 6:54 pm

I can’t find out much information about this bed — just some pictures listed on a real estate site. Yup, it’s for sale at $364,900. Comes with a house in Visalia, CA and a guarantee of perpetual virginity, like the AT-AT bed.

I thought I was going overboard by painting my kids’ furniture weird colors. This guy built a Star Wars AT-AT Imperial Walker for his son to sleep in! The interior is accessible by ladder and by the ‘escape hatch”. -via Boing Boing

Oren Lavie’s Her Morning Elegance: Fun in Bed with Stop Motion Animation

Posted by Queuebot in Music, Video Clips on February 5, 2009 at 3:56 am

[YouTube - Link]

This music video by Oren Lavie, "Her Morning Elegance," shows how much fun you can have in bed with stop-motion animation.

From Oren’s MySpace page:

*The video was shot all stills – roughly 3225 still photos for the entire video, using one camera, hanging from the ceiling for the main body of the movie.

* It took 4 weeks before shooting to create an animated computer generated storyboard for the video, with 3d dummies for the characters.

* It took only 2 days of shooting for the live actors on set to re-create the 3.5 minutes computer sequence, frame by frame.

* Some of the bed sheets used in the video were taken from Oren’s own bedroom and are now considered collectors items, worth at the moment not very much and therefore used as bed sheets.

* Each of the wonderfully talented people above have worked on the video for a fraction of their normal rates (except Oren who worked for his normal rate of zero).

Don’t worry, completely safe for work (this is Neatorama, after all).

This has got to be the yummiest bed EVAR! Behold the Hamburger Bed (technically it’s a cheeseburger, but who cares?) which comes complete with an oversized bun duvet, as well as tomato and pickle slice pillows.
