Until then, broken or misshapen carrots were of very low value. They could be used for carrot juice or animal fodder or pre-cut carrots for freezing or canning. Yurosek combined an automatic cutter and potato peeling machine to cut and then abrade carrot pieces into the familiar 'baby' shapes we see today.
