Fanfare

By Miss Cellania in Music on Feb 21, 2012 at 11:27 am

Fanfare is a simple but cute online toy in which you can turn each instrument on and off with just a click. Drums and Sousaphone only will give you a sort-of polka sound. Add just a trumpet for Dixieland, or just the tuba for a marching band sound. Or listen to the whole band! Link -via the Presurfer

There’s something disturbing about their nudity.

There’s something disturbing about a person who would find nude cartoon characters disturbing.

BTW, this is quite a fun little animation!

I expected a comment about the smoking drummers first. It is a French site.

stayzuplate: Check out my comments about the Japanese farting paintings. I was surprised that they blocked out the private parts of the cartoon characters.

There’s just something naked about these cartoon characters that’s mildly disturbing. I think it reminds me a little of the guy who posted a comment here a coupla years ago. He was a self-professed pedo who provided a link to a site where cartoon characters in nature settings – like genderless cherubs – were lolling around naked. Total creepfest.

Go ahead – look at a naked Ken doll, and tell me that’s not disturbing.

ted: I was mostly joking with my first post, but now that I’ve ready your follow up diatribe about how you find these naked cartoons disturbing you’re kinda creeping me out. Lucky for me I don’t keep naked Ken dolls on hand for reference. Do you?

Just enjoy this animation for the innocent fun that it is and maybe keep your internal struggles to yourself?!?

    Really, stayzuplate?

A diatribe is a “bitter and abusive speech or piece of writing”.

Sorry, your attempt to troll me fell kinda flat. If you can’t make out when I’m serious and when I’m joking, that’s not my problem.

The serious part is that the site the “reformed” pedo linked to was indeed a disturbing site. He felt it was a safe site to visit since, although the subjects were cartoony-lifelike, they were not anatomically correct. Therefore, he was able to justify his viewing such “naked-but-not-really-naked” pictures. In a way, obeying the letter of the law, but not the spirit.

Feel free to class that speech as a diatribe, but it’s really more long-winded. I do note that the archaic definition is “a prolonged discourse”, so you may have me there.

The Ken doll comment, by the way, was a joke. Although now that I’ve had to explain that it was, it couldn’t have been much of one.
