Nara Dreamland

By Miss Cellania in Pictures, Travel on Jul 26, 2010 at 8:54 am

Kyle Merriman recently visited Nara Dreamland, the abandoned Disneyland knockoff theme park in Nara, Japan that was built in 1961 and closed in 2006. He found it to be fairly intact, except for the fact that there are no people there and the weeds have grown everywhere. See the state of the park in a gallery of 56 photographs. Link

I love spooky abandoned theme parks and shopping malls and stuff like that (Chernobil)! Really enjoyed looking at these photos – thanks!

Holy Moley! I got dragged there when we were in the area on holiday like… 14 years ago? I almost forgot about this place. Shows how memorable it was.

The first ride in the first pic sounds to be the most awesome. “Screw Coaster”. Maybe over my headboard perhaps?

I was lucky enough to accompany Kyle on our trip into Dreamland. It was indeed an eerie place and a photographers dream.
Check out some more photos of the Amusement Park on my site!

Oh man, I used to spend my summers there in the 70s when I lived in Japan. Sorry to see it in such a state. Japan had many wonderful amusement parks back then. Thanks for the memories…

Seriously, I don’t know why China or Japan always tries to cash in on cash by stealing ideas. But a whole park!?! lol
