Excel as Illustrator

By Johnny Cat in Art, Video Clips on Feb 26, 2010 at 4:38 pm

We have seen Microsoft Excel used as a drawing tool before, but not like this.  YouTube user and artist shukei01 put this time-lapse video together that shows almost 13 hours of work.  ”Autoshape can be used to do lineart, colors, shadows, lighting effects and layers, like some drawing software.”

Anyone know who does the music?

The music is an arrangement of Solfeggietto by C.P.E. Bach, but I have no idea who it's arranged by, sorry.

    Table spoon as backhoe.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it.

Highly doubtful, but he does excel at Paint as well, Inti. If you've ever played around with MS Excel, you know this stuff is possible.

Did anyone see a Save dialog during this whole process? This awesomeness could have easily created a BSOD...

Ummm...looks like he's using tools that could be similarly used in Word or PowerPoint. Not too sure there's really all that much creativity involved. Anyone with a enough time could draw whatever they wanted in these applications. It doesn't make them efficient or useful for artistic expression.
