Balloon Fiesta in USA

Willy Kaemena took this 360° panorama of the 2009 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Hot air Balloons have certainly gone a long way in terms of shapes. Oh, and as far as I know, no Balloon boy hoax is involved in this event ;)

The embed is nice, but the panorama is meant to be exprienced at full screen so head on over to 360 Cities for a much better view: LinkThanks Jeffrey!

The Balloon fiesta used to be sponsored by Kodak, I don’t know if it still is or not due to digital photography. They sold more film at that event than any other.
I loved balloon fiesta time when I lived in Albuquerque. It was the highlight of the year.

A friend of my husband’s worked as… security? Or something during this. Sent us a bunch of photos of all the different balloons.

No – the Fiesta is no longer sponsored by Kodak. There are currently about 20 official sponsors. And then dozens of smaller individual balloon sponsors.

I fly in the Fiesta every year and its the largest and most photographed ballooning event in the world. Kodak did in fact sponsor the Fiesta a long while back but now its spread around many sponsors with different levels of sponsorship. If you have never been here in person you should in the future.

Its also one of the only Hot Air Balloon Rally’s that allows spectators ( the public ) to come out on the field and get up close to the balloons and talk to the Pilots and Crew. As a Pilot.. I love answering questions about balloons!

    351 days to go
