Where Sci-Fi/Fantasy Authors Do Their Work

Posted by John Farrier in Everything Else, Movies & SciFi, Pictures on August 9, 2009 at 9:31 am

Where I Write is a photogallery of science fiction and fantasy authors in their workspaces. The photo above is of Piers Anthony, author of the Xanth series. Photographer Kyle Cassidy plans to create a book filled with such images.

Hey, what a great thing to wake up and see a picture of Piers Anthony here. I used to work for him and just wanted to tell anyone who is unfamiliar with him that he is a wonderful, truly prolific author and a fantastic person with a great heart. Truly an epic human being. Give his novels a chance, you can't go wrong!

One common theme in just about every workspace: lots and lots of books.

Love Piers Anthony books (Incarnations of Immortality are my fav), but the man has something seriously wrong with him. Pedo much?

Anywho... very interesting to see where they all work.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who lives like this.

Started reading Piers Anthony with the Apprentice Adept series, loved Incarnations of Immortality to death, but my favorite set is Geodyssey. Haven't met a Piers Anthony book I didn't like, though I never really got into Xanth.

Piers Anthony books really appealed to me fiften-twenty years ago - but I tried re-reading them lately and couldn't get started.

That room though - desperately needs coving. It's like being in a shoe-box.

The Samuel R Delany room is closest to my own - so cramped and cluttered that the photo has to be taken from above! Come on authors, there is no way that your workspaces are so tidy when you're working... or maybe I'm the only one who likes to be surrounded by an advancing avalanche of paper and balancing 'stuff'.

I'm a huge fan of Piers Anthony's Xanth series. His writings have always been a creative influence on me. It's great to see his workspace! :D

it's nice to see professional writers using their not so fancy PCs and regular laptops on daily basis. Compare it with wanna-be's blog writers and self proclaimed internet cult personas showing off their apple products, just as posing for think different photo session ;)

So glad to see Mister Haldeman up there! My favorite author.

seekshelter: for what it's worth, Haldeman is a big fan of old typewriters too, so he probably submits manuscripts in all manner of formats. He has a bunch of fancy ink pens...probably for personal idea taking.
