Fluid Sculpture

Fluid Sculpture from Charlie Bucket on Vimeo.

Charlie Bucket, created this beautiful sculpture where the intricate weaving with the use of colored fluids and what I believe to be bubbles/air pockets produce a hypnotic effect. Apparently, this is just a small prototype to what I hope is going to be a giant monster of an art piece that he’ll have at the 2009 Maker Faire in San Mateo.

* I highly suggest to check out the HD version of this on Vimeo.
**And I think a sound warning is needed as TronStuck has suggested. Especially, for those of you wearing headphones.

That's a scarf/hat knitter thing on the bottom, isn't it? Genius!

Strange and cool! I especially enjoyed the numerous blue droplets...it looked more like an ant farm than a serious of tubes.

With a name like Charlie Bucket, of course he's working with bubbles! (Chocolate Factory, anyone?)

We're not "get out of the house" kind of people, but I'd get out of the house for the giant version of this. I'd like to see a version that you could walk through or sit in. Actually, I'd like to make one....

    Poorly-done video, but cute idea.

@ lauren - yes that does look like a Knifty knitter.
I had done that with some left over rexlace tubing, but had never thought of hooking it up to any fluid/water.

He should knit an entire sweater out of these tubes and make it mobile. Instant camouflage, change your coloring on the fly!
