Cadbury Creme Egg Deaths

By Stacy in Food & Drink, Video Clips on Mar 27, 2009 at 9:26 pm

My sweet tooth must be in full effect tonight because I somehow keep stumbling upon posts about donuts and cupcakes and Cadbury Creme Eggs. Last year, Cadbury held a contest for fans to submit videos of the delicious chocolatey goodness going splat. They called it their “Here today, goo tomorrow” campaign, and some of them are pretty awesome. Check out this Rube Goldberg contraption – it’s really complicated. My favorite part is the Smashing Creme Eggs band.

But fans of Andy Samberg and SNL digital shorts will appreciate this one – it’s a tribute to the “Dear Sister” short.

That Rube Goldberg contraption is awesome!

And I love Cadbury Creme Eggs. One of my favorite signs of spring!

I liked the second one not just because of the obvious Dear Sister reference, but because I saw a little bit of Bunny Suicides in there too : )

That is the most complex and intelligently designed Goldberg device I’ve ever seen!

Even the audio track was great. Hearing the ball roll across the panelling seams…and the hammers to help them up the incline…

    Brilliant!

Yes, you might say it has charm, but I didn’t care for the whole “done-in-my-basement” atmosphere.

I swore off Cadbury when it began shrinking the egg size in 2007.

Makes me think about how they reduced the big hershey milk chocolate bar. I don’t remember the exact weight but in 2004 it came roughly as this : 8.2 Oz bar -> 8.2 Oz with 15% free bar -> 7 Oz bar.
    The price stayed the same.

Hey, Christophe! Somebody else is in on the conspiracy!

I’ve been ranting for years about the “bait-and-switch” aspect of “whatever % free”. It’s always followed by a reduction in size for the original price. I’m in Massachusetts which is a huge test market for new food products, so I get a lot of this crap. I try to stockpile when I see it happening…
