    That cake is awesome.

Though, now I'm kind of scared to bake and eat it because of Alex's poo comment.

Must you put those weird mental images into my head? :D

Richard Harris, eat your heart out. This beats runny green icing any day.

The last few days Neatorama has been mirroring my browsing history. I was looking at this cake on Tuesday. My girlfriend made it on Wednesday. Gonna have to ask her how the poo went.

oh, and this isn't near psychedelic. but this http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g47/candy_floss84/DSC03600.jpg is. :D

"What I want to know is this: will it make you poo rainbow?"

If it does, it means its FDA approved.

I think it's "eat rainbows, poo butterflies."

My wife and I have made several rainbow cakes for friends in the last year, and the reactions are always terrific. I don't even like cake, but it's so great to see people gasp with delight when you cut them a slice.
You can also make rainbow cupcakes!

Years ago I think Betty Crocker used to have a special set of cake pans, which allowed you to make a checkered cake or a rainbow cake.

My background is in food sciences. To answer the poo question: No. Not a rainbow. But if you were to eat the whole cake, your poo may be an odd teal green color.
It has to do with how your stomach and bowels process the food and dye. I am sort of happy that I did not miss that week of class. For many years later I am able to answer a question about poo on an internet blog.

I love putting food coloring in my baking experiments, but I never thought of rainbow before...

    I have to try this.

I think this originated from somethingawful.com under the forums "Goons with Spoons" I just made one on Monday and put the 'quasi' instructions on my facebook (the album is tagged so anyone can view it as long as they are logged in).

I think it makes you poo unicorns - not as fun as it sounds.
