Love, love, love these cute marzipan sculptures by Glenn D’Hondt, Sylvia Meert, and Tinne Mermans of Eugene and Louise Bakery (it’s a fictional bakery for an art show): Link (don’t miss the white chocolate butter cookie clouds!) – via Scene 360 Illusion

A million years ago or so candy stores in Germany
used to have the most beautiful boxes of small marzipan figures. All lovingly hand made. Unfortunately I don't care for it but my father truly loved marzipan. Hopefully the boxes of marzipan are still being sold.
The stores would place open boxes in their windows
    to attract customers.

SparkS, my stepmother is German, and she used to have her uncle send us marzipan and leibkuchen (I am sure I spelled that wrong) every year. The creations were amazing to look at and to eat. I still have some of the tins they came in.

Some of those remind me of characters in "The Nightmare before Christmas." So clever!

Are those boobs on the ballerina? Look like little eggs.

EB, I couldn't place that leibkuchen but noticed one google hit also called it pfeffernuse. Now that I remember! I used to love them, been many many years since I've had one. Who am I kidding, no one can eat just one. GGGG

(I think now pfeffernuse is not leibkuchen)

RR, hmmm interesting question. Being above the shoulders I kind of doubt that they are but I cannot figure what else they could be. Really huge pimples?

I'm not sure what pfeffernuse is though the name rings a bell. Lebkuchen is the soft gingerbread type stuff, though. I haven't had any since I was a kid and am now craving it.
