The Shoplifting Dog

Posted by Alex in Animal, Crime & Law on December 27, 2008 at 1:56 pm

A surveillance video at Smith’s Food & Drug grocery store in Idaho has captured a … shoplifting dog!

Surveillance video at Smith’s Food & Drug shows the dog walking in the front door and giving a friendly sniff to a young girl at a checkout stand.

Then the dog headed straight for the pet food in Aisle 16, grabbed the $2.79 bone and made a break for the door, only to be confronted by store manager Roger Adamson.

Adamson says that when the dog didn’t obey his command to surrender the bone, he decided not to force the issue. Adamson tells KSL-TV, "I decided I wanted to keep all my fingers." (Source)

Nothing to do with Arbroath blog has the video clip: Link

    Looks like the dog I played with at Red Fish Lake up in Idaho. It is kind of cute.

    I read this a few days ago and thought it was so cute. We go to a small, family run pet shop and always take the dogs there. They shoplift too. We always end up paying for more than we intended because one of them will swipe a pig's ear from the big box in the corner. I'm going to make my dogs get jobs to pay for this stuff.

    The owners probably have an easily accessible pig's ear box in the corner for that very reason.

    We accuse them of that each time, ted. But hey, at least they are pretty cheap.

    @Rocky

    Hey, maybe it's the same dog.

    This story isn't actually from Idaho, it's from Utah. KSL is a television station in Salt Lake City and the Smith's mentioned is pretty close to my house in Murray. Just thought I'd clear that up.
