Make Your Own Gift Bows

Posted by Stacy in Arts & Crafts, Christmas on December 16, 2008 at 9:44 pm

I can’t sit still. Like, pretty much ever. I can sit still in a movie theater if I have to, but if I’m sitting at home watching TV or something, I can’t just sit. Which is probably why I blog. Anyway, my point is, making these bows is a fabulous thing to do if you need something to cure idle hands. They’re very, very addicting. And you’re recycling at the same time! Plus, they’re so much more original and different than anything you’ll find in a store. That’s one of my bows in the picture, but here’s the original post on Craftster that will show you how to make your own.

You can take it to the next level by adding an LED to the giftbow:

Very cool. Have you seen the Hallmark gift bags that have an anti-kid-peaking device? Those are cool.

I had some extra origami paper on hand so I tried it with that. Fantastic! I always wanted to know how to make these bows.

I didn't have any of those brass reinforcement-thingys so I used a thumb tack until it was done, then stapled it. Works great, plus the point is sharp enough to go thru the paper without extra tearing.

I think it is pointless to buy bows... but now my kids will have bows on their presents!

Awesome find! Also, great idea about the thumb tack/stapling! I want to try and make some of these when I get home, but I know I don't have any of those brass things!

You weren't kidding about these being addictive...I made tons of them while watching TV last night, I literally had to force myself to stop making them and go to sleep : )
