Google Zeitgeist 2008

Posted by Alex in Blog & Internet on December 10, 2008 at 2:54 pm

We posted about Yahoo’s top searches of 2008 before on Neatorama. Well, Google has just released its 2008 Year-End Zeitgeist, and the results couldn’t be any different.

Here are the highlights from Google searches from around the world in 2008:

1. sarah palin
2. beijing 2008
3. facebook login
4. tuenti
5. heath ledger
6. obama
7. nasza klasa
8. wer kennt wen
9. euro 2008
10. jonas brothers

I had to look up tuenti (a Madrid-based social networking website, referred to many as the "Spanish Facebook"), nasza klasa (a Polish social networking website), and wer kennt wen (ditto, this time for Germans).

Link - Thanks Justin!

In Spain everybody gets “paranoid” about Tuenti. EVERYBODY loves Tuenti like it was a kind of God… But the truth is that Tuenti is really boring. And the people who loves it even more. ¬_¬

[Congratulations for this great site! ;)]

    what about “facebook login”?

yeah, if only I could remember how to reach Facebook.com , what is the address for that place?
Hey, I know, I’ll use Google. I’ll just Yahoo up google’s address because I can never remember that thing. Now, where did I write down how to access Yahoo.com.

    etc.

Actually the Yahoo and Google searches are not all that different…if you note one breaks into categories and the other doesn’t.

Yup double-check the link. It isn’t the most popular Google searches, just those that rose the fastest this year.

I love Britney. I love her Circus Video. I will certainly buy the CD. I hope she sells record numbers so that her critics will have to eat crow!

    Wow, Angela Stevenson, SPAM MUCH??

Sarah Palin will no longer be a relvant search after this year so I hope she enjoys it.

In Canada, “Canada” was a prominent search term this year. I guess we were too lazy to just look outside.
