70s Rock Musicians and Their Parent’s Homes

Posted by Miss Cellania in Pictures on November 27, 2008 at 12:50 pm

From the archives of LIFE magazine, a collection of rock stars photographed with their parents at home. I’m not surprised that the Jackson 5 apparently lived in the Brady Bunch set. Pictured is Frank Zappa with his folks. Link -via the Presurfer

Elton John’s parents have the coolest wallpaper.

What an amazing collection, but I wish there were more. It’s cool to see the musicians this way.

It’s interesting to see that a lot of those design styles are considered “in” today. I never thought the 70’s would be “in” ever again.

Some of that clothing could be in style, too. Not all of it, but the (mostly) non-tacky stuff would be.

I love David Crosby’s shirt. I know, I know, ugly, but I would have such fun playing with those fringes. I also like his hair.

    Elton John’s parents are awesome.

Frank Zappa is amazing. His parents super purple place fits right in with what I imagined his family to be like .. very unconventional and fantastic.

Speaking of purple, I would love to see the Prince parents home.

What were Frank’s parents doing with [what looks like] the original artwork for Alice Coopers’ “Pretties for you”? If you know said sleeve, you’d realise how bizarre this made ma & pa Zappa! it’s worth the hunt!

The houses are great in a dated sort of way, but the picture of Clapton and his granny, the woman who raised him, was just sweet.

I would not have thought that would be an interesting subject but it was. Who knew?

Malenka - that’s what I thought too! I was thinking “hmm, I wonder if Prince’s childhood home was overly purple?”
