In our recent post about the Plier Store, Neatorama reader Pudifoot mentioned Spatula City, a famous skit from “Weird Al” Yankovic’s UHF. Since I actually have a friend who sells spatulas (lots of it – he’s a spatula salesman), I had to find the the clip:

I remember reading that when they were making this movie, they rented a billboard for this commercial. They only rented it for a month (or whatever the shortest amount of time they could get it for), but it ended staying up for about a year. Apparently several people were confused, because it says “Next exit”, but no store was to be found.

A couple friends of mine started a house music record label called “Spatula City Records” in Chicago. It’s good stuff.
