The Plier Store

Posted by Alex in Travel & Places on November 13, 2008 at 3:54 am

We’ve blogged about the growing number of narrowly focused blogs, but the phenomenon isn’t limited to teh InterWeb. Lisa Katamaya of Tokyo Mango found a store in Akihabara that plies pliers! Link

Good thing they located this store next to the "hard things to pull out of wood" store

Maybe the people in that town are really OCD about using the exact right pair of pliers for the job...

Akihabara has tons of stores specializing in electronics. But this is a little odd...

Come down to Pliers City. Nothing says "I love you" like the gift of pliers.

Reminds me of the time I was skateboarding around India and had a mud caked bearing disentegrate. I was kinda despereate, where the hell are you going to find 608Z bearings in Pune? After hours of wandering around, through the automotive parts district, through the machine tools district, I found a shop...nothing but ball bearings!! It was literally 100% ring bearings. I was ecstatic. I asked if they had 608Zs...he pulls out a big box! 608Zs from Singapore, from Germany, from Japan, from China, from Thailand, from Italy, and, yes, from India..man, I was in hog heaven. They were so cheap, and great quality. Put any skate shop back home to shame. I bought enough Singapore bearings to last me to the present day five years later ;)

Reminds me of the "Scotch Tape Store" skit from SNL and the movie"How to beat the high cost of living"
