Homemade Theremin

(YouTube link)

This guy recreated the effect of a theremin by manipulating the feedback of two walkie-talkies. Now if he could just learn a tune! Warning: You may want to turn the sound down a bit. -Thanks, Clyde Langer!

I used to do the same thing back in the day with nextel. Just grab two phones, and two-way each other.
    It was... um... beautiful.

Dang-- I wish they'd had youtube 15 years ago when I used to do this... and yes, it's not that easy to get anything other than 5 or so useable tones from 2 walkie talkies. That's what made Leon Theremin such a genius!

Neat. However, it doesn't beat the cat playing with the theremin video. ;) Oh, and I really should have taken heed of the warning to put down my sound. *ouch*

Haha... I often use the same trick during my circuit bent sets, 'cept I have a mic set up between them to capture the sound and then patch the result through my various FX pedals for a huge, distortedly harsh wash of digital hardcore sound. It freaks out all the Shroom heads in the crowd...

    Cheers..!!
