Inverted Bookshelf

Posted by Miss Cellania in Arts & Crafts, Book & Lit on October 1, 2008 at 10:53 pm

Your friends will do a double take when they see this upside-down bookshelf. And then they will freak out again when you pull a book out! No books were damaged in the making of this bookshelf. Instructables will show you how it’s done, and how you can make one of your own. Link -Thanks, Ed!

    Haha!

It does seem like a lot of work for a one-time joke, though.

This is pretty cool, but the straps will show when you pull the book out.

That’s not inverted, it’s just upside down.

Well, there’s one GREAT book in that collection - Bill Bryson’s Short History of Everything. And one pretty fun book, Fruits - hahahaha!

Am I the only one who’s not quite getting how this works? Looking at the Instructable, it seems like an individual “sling” was made for each book, but if that’s the case then how is that end book mounted with no visible means of support? Or am I having a total brain-fart and missing something really obvious?

(Oh, never mind, looking at the blown-up version of Step 4 shows what he’s doing … duh =)
