Gnome Home

In a recreation of the movie Amelie, a garden gnome was kidnapped and photographed traveling around the world. But he is has been returned! Eve Stuart-Kelso of Gloucestershire found her gnome “Murphy” outside her home seven months after he disappeared. She also found a photo album showing the places he had been.

The album shows Murphy abseiling down a mountain, standing in a shark’s mouth and riding a motorbike.

Some of the pictures show a group of mysterious young men, who could be the ones responsible for the globetrotting stunt.

Also with Murphy were immigration stamps for all the shores he had been taken to visit – South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong and Laos.

This isn’t the first time this has happened.

A friend of mine told me about how a family in Florida had this happen to their pink flamingo yard ornament. Every week or so, they'd get a post card written from the perspective of the flamingo about its travels through Europe and Asia. All the international postage was authentic, so they knew someone was actually traveling to the different countries. After a couple months, the flamingo was returned. They never figured out who took it, but they thought it was neat. They actually started to anticipate getting the next card in the mail.

This is hardly a recreation from the film Amelie - this sort of prank had been going on for decades before the film was written, the film was merely art imitating life.

"A Gloucestershire police spokeswoman said there had been no report of a gnome going missing but said: "Any theft of a person's property, even if it is carried out as a joke, will be treated as a crime by police."

...people work like robots, it's sad :(

If she missed it so much, why didn't she just have it cloned?

A cloned gnome can't go home.

(Yeah, I have NO idea - I just had to okay??)

No, Slapster, it would be a home-grown cloned gnome.
