Dancing Liquid

By Ali S. in Science & Tech, Video Clips on Jul 11, 2008 at 12:32 pm

Here’s something to watch on a loop repeatedly at work. This awesome video shows the non-Newtonian properties of cornstarch mixed with water and placed on top of a subwoofer. Eerie isn’t it? It’s as if the “weird” liquid is…alive. It certainly plays with your mind as the fluid acts and behaves as if it has a mind of its own! TGIF everyone!

PS: Anyone have a clue on the song? It’s hypnotic.

was the subwoofer just giving a solid tone to create this effect?

A friend of mine tried this out a couple of days ago. Try punching it or cutting it with a knife; it's crazy!

    @ DOJ

From what I gather from the video, especially, from the end of it that it does seem that the subwoofer is producing a solid tone.

Neat. I could almost see little humanoid figures coming up out of the goo. Almost.

Does anyone know who the song is by?

I'm also quite interested in figuring out the song myself. For some reason listening to this conjures up images of "gangstas" riding up a road and then their car hopping up and down as the bass kicks in. ;)

I am very allergic to corn starch. I swear that it feels like that movement is happening inside me when I eat corn starch.
