My black lab smiles and wags his butt whenever we come home. The problem is that it scares other people because when he smiles he shows all of his very large, pointy teeth, and if you didn't know better you'd think he was ready to eat you.

My black lab shows his teeth too when grinning at me. It's not one of those wide ear to ear grins - just shows me his front teeth. It's cute. (to me only - scary to everyone else)

Surely this should be on http://www.cuteoverload.com instead? There's a little dog at http://www.hongkongdogrescue.com.hk called Antoinette who really looks like she is smiling. I know she is really happy as she is always wagging her tail and coming up for a cuddle. This is great, as when she was first abandoned she was miserable (who wouldn't be).

I think dogs smile as they mimic us. Makes sense to me and my dog smiles a lot when she's happy, such as the whole family out for a walk etc.
