Cat and Bear, BFF

By Alex in Animals & Pets on Jun 16, 2008 at 1:16 am

Muschi the cat and Meuschen the bear are so close that zookeepers in Berlin had to reunite them after they were separated:

The pair were split up last October when the bear was locked in a cage while her living space was enlarged.

The distraught cat soon caught the attention of zoo keepers after she remained sitting outside the bear’s cage pining for her friend.

This week, keepers took the unusual step of allowing the feline into the cage with her shaggy-haired pal. ‘They greeted each other and had a cuddle and now they’re happy,’ said Heiner Kloes, a member of the zoo’s management board.

You think it’s possible that the cat believe the bear is it’s mother/father or some other kind of sibling, or vise versa? I bet if the bear was born in a zoo it wouldn’t really know any better, their fur matches a bit, etc.

Wow… You’d think the guys at the Berlin Zoo would be a little less vulgar when naming animals. Muschi mean pussy (as in slang for vagina) In German!!!

Aw, I’m guessing they both are just lonely. Perhaps, they imprinted on the other the idea of a companion? If anything this is an awesome story.
