Celebrity Dolls Repainted

Noeling takes celebrity collector dolls and painstakingly repaints them to more resemble the person they portray.

I used a 16-inch Mary Poppins doll here produced by Robert Tonner Doll company – a very nicely made facial sculpt but the facial paint left much to be desired. So, I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted it to more faithfully replicate Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins. The doll’s hair has been extensively restyled to more accurately represent the character’s hairstyle from the movie.

His Deviant Art page has many more repainted dolls, some of which are for sale. Link -via Dump Trumpet

The pictures look Photoshopped. If he really painted those they look very good.

Very cool. They look almost photorealistic now. Amazing what improving the skintone alone will do!

The one on the right looks nigh-real. I'm not sure whether to be impressed or suspicious.

There's a long standing trend at the higher end of the fashion doll collecting hobby for face repaints.
    This guy is good!

And - having seen my beloved toiling at repainting doll faces - let me just say that Photoshop might be easier but far less rewarding.

That is extremely awesome. Although it's a little disturbing to me to realize that Julie Andrews' primary characteristic is "shiny."

Q: "What do you do for fun"

    A: "I play with dollies".

    LOL

"Playing" with dollies would be easier.
Although I have no desire to do so, I do respect the talent going into this.
Finally, a bit of artistry on Neatorama that doesn't involve tons of fruit.

I would have liked to see an actual photo of the human next to the two dolls for further comparison.
