Cosplayers at WonderCon 2008

150_comiconWonderCon 2008 runs through today the Moscone Center West in San Francisco.

Thousands of fanboys and girls head to WonderCon each year for an insider’s look at superhero flicks, comic book characters and sci-fi shows, but only the most dedicated get decked out in cosplay gear and homemade armor.

Wired has pictures of a dozen attendees who came in costume. Having attended such conventions myself, I suspect that for each featured character, there were dozens who didn’t make the cut. Link

I can’t believe there haven’t been any comments yet. Not my thing, but I have to say that I greatly admire the handmade costumes over the “I bought this on ebay” ready-made deals.

To quote one of the descriptions.
“My mother did all the sewing and stitching with a little help from my aunt.”

I can’t help but thing of the Venture Bros episode “Victor. Echo. November.”:

Jollyrancher82: I just thought, you know… “The Monarch,” I thought you were into cosplay…
The Monarch: Real name! And I am into costumed business, not costumed play.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think WIRED may have transformed this into cosbiz.
