Neatorama: Updating Servers

Posted by Alex in Everything Else on February 21, 2008 at 7:15 pm

Hello everyone! Just a little update: We’re updating Neatorama’s servers to try out a new super-duper caching system to help the blog survive traffic spikes. Neatorama seems to load faster for me already, if the ad server could just keep up.

We’re discontinuing a couple of features to help fine-tune performance: no more displaying comments on the homepage (this was one of my favorite features on the blog, but sadly it had to go); no more email this post, poll and top commenters (in their current forms, anyhow). Oh, and we’ll get the suggest-a-link page back up soon.

Some people had reported hiccups with the comment, but everything should be back to normal already. Lastly, thank you for reading the blog … and please tell your friends about Neatorama!

There were comments on the homepage? How did I miss that? Good for you on the upgrade- I had wondered what was going on, since I had a little trouble getting around today.

I'm impressed with the upgrade! It's very noticeable.
