Mark Twain on Film

Silent film footage taken in 1909 by Thomas Edison at Stormfield (CT) at Mark Twain’s estate. Twain is shown walkng around his home and playing cards with his daughters Clara and Jean. The flickering is due to film deterioration, but this is the only known footage of the great author.

I gotta assume that the framerate for film back then was weird. He has the same sort of waddle/walk as Charlie Chaplin. :P Or… maybe thats just how he walked. Maybe back in his time, it was considered stylish or something. Interesting stuff.

I wonder if anyone will ever take the clip and try to remaster it. Its so short a clip that you could almost go frame by frame in adobe and fix it.

I loved it! Being a Twain fanatic, I never thought I would see this film unless I went out to the Twain archives in California. Thank you!!
