Python Mistook Golf Balls for Chicken Eggs

An Australian couple put some golf balls in their chicken coop to encourage their hen to lay eggs (who knew this would work!?) but discovered that a python had eaten them by mistake!

The magnanimous couple took the snake to a nearby animal sanctuary, where a vet performed surgery to remove the balls and saved the python. Link

    It’s long been pretty common to put phony eggs in with hens to encourage them to start laying. This trick is an old one, and it’s easy to find at antique sales such wooden “eggs” that are well over 100 years old. I didn’t know it would work with golf balls, too, but chickens are’t known for their intellect.

    So they spared the python, who will no doubt be back for more eggs eventually.

    Maybe the chickens HAD been laying eggs, but the python had been there before!
