The Kingdom

Here’s a neat infographical opening title sequence of Peter Berg’s movie "The Kingdom," which explains the history of the US involvement in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 1932 in just four minutes.

An oversimplification of a complex history, no doubt, but the essence is all there.

One minute too long but under the present conditions it is an acceptable approach. I’ll be purchasing the DVD on December 26, even after watching the movie.

The brief synopsis of the history made me think. That’s good. One fleeting thought was the Saudis are relatively new to the world stage, but that stunt they pulled in the 70s was pretty grandiose. They realized they had the superpower by the short hairs then, and have already started preparing for the next era when the spigot runs dry.
