This might actually go over pretty well in Israel.
I lived with a family there who celebrated Yom
Kippur by barbecuing pork on the beach.
My Jewish aunt would never cook pork or ham in her own home but never had any hesitations about eating as a guest at someone else’s home.
Maybe a nice cheese sauce would go with it, too?
Sadly, most Jews today are so “reformed” (picking and choosing only the easiest stuff to follow) that they have thrown away most of their >5000 yrs of tradition. It’s not just a religious issue, but a matter of culture, history, and common tradition… But, ultimately it’s their call. Mazel tov.
My new uncle is jewish and my aunt is christian. Holidays so far are actually pretty smooth since they’re both vegan. they seem to hate everything and bring their own dishes.
I never knew how to tackle the gift giving.
Do I give my uncle a bunch of hanukkah gifts (one for each day) and then one gift for my aunt, or just one gift for both of them, or …?
maybe I’ll just say I’m poor this year.
i think that is a real holiday,
it was marked on a calendar in my doctor’s office

Wow. Yes, I think you’re right. They celebrate it in Europe – you know Europe. That’s the country where they speak French.
