Christopher Locke of Heartless Machine took scissors confiscated from travelers at the airport and turned them into this spider sculpture!

Try to get that past airport security! Link – via Boing Boing

I read that headline with a comma after scissors and thought, "well, duh, who would try to bring that on a plane?!"

    Then I read the blurb.

    More coffee, please.

What utter crap - the odds of all confiscated scissors being exactly the same size and model - zero.

This is a marketing ploy by an unimaginative "artist" to get more eyeball space.
And you fools lap it up.

    "really"

The odds that someone could find matching pairs of scissors in the EIGHT MILLION items confiscated by the TSA- Pretty good odds. The odds that the scissors used to make this spider are, in fact, all different sizes and brands- pretty good odds. The odds that an "unimaginative artist" would find opposition in some anonymous troll poster on the internet who has zero talent and is resentful of other people's success- almost certain.

By the way, if you're ever in Austin, look me up. We'll take a trip to the warehouse near the airport where all the confiscated goods are sent. You'll see all the goodies they have for sale.
