The Great Pizza Orientation Test

pizzaorientation

Steven is impressed that we are able to order pizzas online.

But what I’ve become obsessed with is that when you only want a particular topping on half of your pizza, they make you specify WHICH HALF. LEFT or RIGHT.

I had ordered from them a few times but never paid attention to see if they got the halves correct. I was curious to see if it really would arrive the way I ordered it.

So he performed a little test. Read the story and the results at The Sneeze. Link -via Reddit

Oh my god, you focused on the wrong part of that story. The fact that he was able to order a pizza with no sauce or cheese and ONLY meat is amazing. Check out the picture of the cheeseless, sauceless meat pizza.

Whats even more ridiculous is that high-paid corporate executives and marketing managers spent hours in meetings and thousands of dollars to implement this nifty concept.

I always open the pizza box with the hinge nearest me, in case a mouse jumps out. The pizza maker probably does the same.

    That was irony?

I know it is spoiling the fun, but the reason it specifically says left and right half is simply so it can let you pick different toppings. They could have said half A and half B, but it doesn’t sound as nice, so no meetings determined that they should let you pick which half of your pizza has something, as Dim67 said.

I do love that the none pizza actually came through!

No, Jon, they couldn’t have let you say “half A and half B”, because they’d have to phone you and ask “Do you want the A and B on the same side of the pizza (and the other half plain), or do you want them each to get their own side?”.

The left/right thing is a very clever solution on the designers’ part. Steven didn’t get this, assumed that the “left/right” choice was pointless, and went to great lengths pointing and laughing at the Domino’s folks.

If you want to laugh at the Domino’s folks, check out Ave Maria University. The “left/right” parameter is actually clever and admirable. Sorry, Steven; the joke’s on you.

He ordered a pizza with no cheese? Why, God, why?

BTW, Papa John’s is really good about online ordering. The pizza is still semi-good to delicious if you’re drunk.

All in all, it’s better to order from your local Mom and Pop. At least in my town. YUM
