Fish Ate Fish Four Times Larger Than Its Size!

By Alex in Animals & Pets on Oct 24, 2007 at 1:13 pm

Fisherman Dorson Wright of Grand Cayman got a strange catch the other day: a deep sea fish species appropriately named "Great Swallower" swallowing a fish four times its size!

In the belly of the fish was another fish, and this one was clearly much, much bigger. In fact when it was measured it was determined that the fish he picked up had eaten a ‘snake mackerel’ that was more than four times its own length. (Photo: Phillippe Bush, Department of the Environment)

It’s not unusual for fish to eat bigger fish… but they usually CHEW them UP first!

I guess the saying, “His eyes were bigger then your stomach” is most appropriate here!
