The Great Chicken Escape (Or Not): Why 3,000 Chickens Crossed the Road.

Why did 3,000 chickens cross the road? Because the truck carrying them crashed! The Daily Mail has more on this brazen escape attempt (oh, wait – they’re chicken, so they just stand there waiting to be scooped back up).

Funny, I hope some of them were healthy enough to escape... :) The only reason "they just stand there waiting to be scooped back up" is because they are most likely factory farmed... meaning basically atrophy in their legs, so they can't exactly move around.

Any time I've been around chickens on a normal, non factory farm (they exist!), they're just too dumb to run away.

non-wild birds have no clue how to act in nature. these were probably too scared to go near the trees!
