Future National Library of the Czech Republic is a Green Blob

Talking about libraries, here’s the winning design for the National Library of the Czech Republic by London architectural firm Future Systems.

Horrendous, another beautiful old city defaced by some modernist structure that some idiot calls “art”
So with all the beautiful buildings in Prague, there aren’t any decent architects left in the country? They had to hire Papa Smurf to come over from London to design this piece of trash?
Looks like an amoeba that devoured a city block!
What’s wrong with old European-style architecture? If it ain’t broke…
this project was (and it still is) very criticized. But it was chosen between a huge pack of it. I’ve been in one exposition that had all the projects that run for that project.. and almost all were quiet “modern style”
This is very wrong. It certainly does not belong in Prague, a city renowned for it’s beauty. Their website (Future Systems) is also horrendous. This reminds me why I hate so many things from 1994. This better be a sick joke.
Hehe, this looks rather similar to the “Learning Center” that is currently being built in Lausanne, Switzerland, to host, among other things, a library:

(a building where, if all goes well, my office will be relocated as soon as it finishes, in 2010)
