Yay! 3D Hologram is Here!

The clever people at USC Institute for Creative Technologies and colleagues made this awesome 3D hologram, just like in those sci-fi movies!

Yes, this made its round on the Interweb recently, and Neatorama is late to the party as usual, but better late than never: Hit play or go to Link [YouTube] | The researcher’s website – via swissmiss

I'm not sold on the mirror method. I like to think of true holograms as something you can project from a distance and at variable sizes... in addition to being able to pass your hand through it without injury. Seems to me that the mirror method would also become mechanically impractical if a larger hologram (say 10 feet high) was required. What an unwieldly contraption that would be!

    Spinning slanted mirror! Brilliant!

Didn't the first TV use some sort of spinning disk?
