Re-Mixed Ceramic Figurines by Barnaby Barford

By dariusmonsef in Everything Else on Aug 27, 2007 at 1:18 pm

The very clever Barnaby Barford has been taking mass-manufactured or antique ceramic figurings and re-mixing them to create interesting scenes.

“He uses figurines cut and re-stuck together providing a clever way of getting people to look again at something they would on principle have dismissed.

The way they are put together forces you to look at the figures in a new and slightly disrupted way. A procession, a story, a new conglomerate is the result, a reworking of tradition that leaves it recognisable but different, witty, edited.”

Great Dr, but now what do we do with it?!

Barford has designed almost 150 one-off pieces for David Gill Galleries in London.
