Here’s the story behind the Fish ‘n Flush:

The Westminster entrepreneur has invented a toilet tank that doubles as an aquarium – with a breath-catching twist: When you flush, it looks like all the water is draining out of the tank and the fish are going down.

It’s an optical illusion. The fish are actually safe in an outer aquarium made of high-polished plastic. What you see draining is the toilet water in a separate tank behind the aquarium.

Watching the tank refill – and the fish merrily swimming, oblivious to any threat – you get the urge to break into applause.

    Heh, as a kid one of my (many, and admittedly neurotic) -dreads- was of finding a -fish- floating in the toilet, I couldn't even enter a bathroom if the light was out lest the fish "surprise" me ... gosh, if this thing had been around back then I can't even -imagine- the kinds of therapy bills I'd be footing today - evil, evil commode!

    Another form of horrific animal abuse. Goldfish (if held captive) need to be in a POND. Did you know a goldfish can live up to 20 years? They dont belong in tanks, or worst of all: bowls. People need to stop abusing animals.

    Yes, with a brain on the same scale as a gnat, lets all waste our time and energy worrying about the poor old goldfish (watching a couple of herons spear fish dozens of trout fingerling's out my pond as I write this - doesn't really put my knickers in a knot over the loss or how much if any it traumatizes the fish - it's called nature).

    I'd hate to have to be a fish looking out the front of that tank for the rest of my life.

    I could only imagine the stories they could tell.

    Old idea! 1999, I made a movie (pixel cartoon?) on 16color.com about a fish in a toilet tank!

    Not impressed.
    The clear resin toilet seat with fishhooks in it is much more impressive (and scarier).
