Exploding Soap.

By Anita in Science & Tech, Video Clips on Aug 2, 2007 at 5:49 pm

This video shows how three simple ingredients (soap, Hydrogen Peroxide, and dissolved Potassium Iodide) is all it takes to make a pretty neat, but relatively safe, chemical reaction. IMPORTANT – if you try this, make sure to wear goggles. As one of the commenters pointed out, hydrogen peroxide can burn your eyes.

Hydrogen Peroxide can badly damage your eyes. So I would strongly suggest calling this experiment NOT SAFE!

Fluff – is it really? My mom used to wash my eyes out with hydrogen peroxide as a kid (if I got dirt in them or scratched them while playing outside). Is it only strong hydrogen peroxide that causes problems, or am I in for trouble down the road?

OK, I just looked it up on the MSDS site and it really is dangerous for the eyes (uh, thx mom).

    Mom’s H202 was 3%, this stuff is 35%.
