DDR Shenanigans

Dance Dance Revolution has been around for a long time - but I’ve just found out that there are actually many different "versions" of DDR. Check these out:

Just a friendly game of regular DDR - oh, I dunno, maybe easy level or something:

Hard to stay on your feet? Maybe adding hands will help. Here’s Freestyle DDR done by a guy who goes by the nickname "smidget" (hm, that you Robert?):

If you can’t do it, maybe it’s because you’ve got two left feet. The obvious solution is to try one-legged DDR:

Still can’t do it? Maybe it’s because you need a partner, like the Japanese:

… or the Koreans:

All that jumping will probably induce a myocardial infarction in old, out of shape fat guys like me, so why not try something "easier" like finger DDR:

That reminded you of your carpal tunnel syndrome? Mad that you don’t have the skillz to play any of the DDR versions above? Feel like hulk-smashing something? You’re in luck:

Now here’s something for me: Dance Freaks, where you flail to win! (Added 7/13/07 - Thanks Joe Felice!)

Still can’t DDR? Maybe it’s a matter of motivation … Here’s something that will surely motivate the heck out of you: Dance Dance Immolation, where a wrong move is punished by a flamethrower! (Added 7/13/07 - Thanks Ed!) | Dance Dance Immolation website - Thanks Richaard!

The second and fifth video’s are actually Pump It Up. The difference between PIU and DDR is that PIU has diagonal arrows and a center step, while DDR only has the vertical and horizontal arrows.

Has anyone seen any video’s of that crazy dance game that has steps in all directions? I saw it at an arcade in Vegas but never had the guts to try it.

Currently bicycle-touring their way across Canada!

Don’t leave out Dance Maniax and Dance Freaks! In these great games you wave your hands over infra-red sensors.

I feel tired just watching. How much time and energy do these guys spend on the machines? I bet if one of their moms asked them to do something at home they wouldn’t pry their buts off the chair.

Hahaha peach - I bet you’re right! They should invent a DDR dishwashing game!
