There is a small farm in Kansas, near some friends of mine, that has at least a dozen Zonkeys and at least one zebra. I go visit each year and they take me to see them. They are adorable and very friendly.
I’ve seen a zedonk before. They exist. They are also called zeedonks, zebronkey, etc. There is a nice article on Wikipedia. They had a zedonk at our county fair.
Well we have our own version of the zedonk in Tijuana,
Tijuana Zebras
Female horse + male donkey = mule
Male horse + female donkey = hinny.
From the wikipedia entry on hinny:
Hinnies are similar to mules in that they are generally more intelligent than horses, and more cooperative than donkeys.
Hinnies are also notoriously weaker than the mule, though, and a lot of times that’s why a mule is more valuable to a farmer (or would have been, at least) if they’re not called upon to do tasks that involve much thinking.
Zorses are hybrids and generally sterile…but yes, the zonkey is a neat idea.
