For Sale: Ghost Town.

By Alex in Travel on Jun 15, 2007 at 11:53 am

Got $250,000? You can buy this ghost town in the middle of nowhere:

As real estate ads go, Rocky Bar’s is a browser-stopper.

"Always wanted a ghost town?" it asks. "What a way to amaze your friends and family! The entire town of Rocky Bar, Idaho, is for sale, and what a ‘ghoulish’ deal it is."

An entire town — yours for $250,000, mineral and timber rights included.

Downside: it’s in Idaho. Link – via A Welsh View

Not to be one of those people who flips out anytime someone says something negative about their home… but seriously, Idaho – particularly the parts where you’ll find ghost towns – is beautiful. It’s not for people who want big-city action, but it’s actually a really wonderful place to live. And no, I’m not a native. Try it before you sneer at it, no?

    Let’s try again…

downside: you have to pay in potatoes.

Idaho is beautiful alright. So is Montana, South Dakota, Utah. Real party states and all.

Downside…. It’s in Idaho? Come on now. That’s just not right. we have just as much here as anywhere else and, really, where else could you buy a whole town? It’s just fun waiting to happen!!

Idaho haters are so late 90s.
It’s going to be coastal after all the oceans rise anyway. So laugh now, suckers.

Aw guys, I was just kidding. Idaho is beautiful, and according to my friend, filled with beautiful people.

I’d love to own a ghost town — I’d just run around all day like a kid. Guess I’ll just have to share the PA ghost towns with everybody else.

    Native of beautiful Idaho..
The entire town was not for sale only 1/2 or a little over 8 acres which included the hotel, jail house and yes, timber and mining rights. Be careful! In some of Idahos roughest country, impassible in winter and early spring. Spent many a week-ends in Rocky Bar.
