Engineers from Sun Microsystems and Fakespace Systems created this awesome immersive virtual environment that looks very much like the Holodeck in Star Trek!

    Actually, CAVEs have been around for a while now. I visited the ones at the University of Illinois in Champaign, and they are pretty neat.

    They are used for everything from looking at tumors, proteins, and outer space to playing a 3D version of Doom.

    Is this just for environments? Or is it a "real" holodeck, i.e. interacting with characters?
